As long as it's above 50...they'll bite. Never once gotten anything after it drops below 50, which happens just around thanksgiving...Lockjaw takes effect.

Is there camping at Siltcoos?

there is camping at honeyman, if you want a "real" campground. There is hike in camping on the west shore opposite booth island, it's about a 5 mile round trip thing...there is a resort near the westlake boatramp, called siltcoos lake resort...they have full hookups for an rv/camper...and there are some campgrounds on the opposite side of the highway a little ways down, at the siltcoos recreation area...i think there are 3 campgrounds and about 3 or 4 day uses in there...

Is it possible to camp on the island?

I don't think so. 2 of them have houses on them and the other on is just reeds. I haven't enen seen the real shoreline on that island. you could drive your boat to the hike in campgrounds. I'll have to charge for directions...

You could but you'd be charged with trespassing, all privately owned land, with houses on all islands, but the reed island...that really isn't an island per se

Is the hike in a pay campground?

Ya, I think it's 5 bucks to park your vehicle.

But if you drove your boat in and parked somewhere else.......

That's not bad. Thanks for the info guys.

Heres a crude map of the boat ramps and I circled the shoreline were the camping is but it is only a rough guess. Also I have never been by butterfly island but maybe you could camp there. and I have no ideaa where the trailhead and parking lot is for the hike in campground.

bufferfly island is directly straight out from the west lake boat ramp....it's got private homes on it. The trailhead parking is about 1.5 miles down 101 from where you turn off for the west lake boat ramp...it's on the left hand side.

Now i am cofused isn't that island the one the call jernigan island on the google earth map? butterfly looked like it didn't even have a tree on it.

Thanks Thuggin. I'm still trying to debate whether to go to Siltcoos or head east to fish.

Man now I don't know what to do. Thanks. No I can't wait to head up there this spring for browns and macs. I might have some downriggers by then and have a better chance for a mac and do some kokanee fishing. I you want salmon head this way if you don't head the other way. good luck either way you go.

Ok so neither one is much of an island.

They're just a mass of reeds and other aquatic vegetation

It's not Crescent I'm thinking about but that would be fun too.
