Probably a #2 or #4, but giant for a mayfly.

I'd like my car painted "Electric Mayfly" please. . .

I think the stone in your pic is a calineuria californica stone.

negative, the little black(brown) stones are tiny, the pic your looking at is a bug that measures 3/4 of an inch. smaller than the bright 'yellow sallys' that will be out soon. ( I'll definitely post a pic or two of those when I find em )

The golden stones are real familiar, as I posted earlier:

here is a caddis, and sorry guys but a blue hopper, have you ever seen a blue hopper? The pic is not the best but you can make it out. Not just the wings were blue but the body was too.

Really cool pics!! :) Here's a few of something a little different:

right on 'fly bum' I dig the mantis.

thanks.

I'll add something different I ran into in San Diego years ago. . .
I'd never heard of it being a Oregon local, the "Taranchula Hawk"

spotted this nasty little critter stuck in a swimming pool and was amazed
by the florescent orange wings and antenna, and NEON blue body. .
pics dont do it justice, fished it out of the pool and cautiously snapped
a couple photos. . .

pretty cool looking bug to see in real life, I've read their sting is legendary. .

heres a crazy catapiliar from St John Virgin islands.....there were tons of smaller ones that looked just like it all over the bush but this was defenitly the biggest at probably around 5 inches. just by looking at it im for sure it was very toxic.

The emergence of a Damsel Fly. This insect crawled up onto me and remained as a pet for about 15 minutes until it flew away as an adult. These photos show the sequence of the fly emerging to maturity. In the first picture, pay close attention to the small tubular like things just behind the thorax.

Wings now out and drying.

Body and wing now larger. Notice that the body has grown out from the first picture like a telescope.
