Thanks rippin for the details! Gonna help out some people bankin it down the road for sure. You're a good dude for handing off a fish as well, not many guys will try to get their buddy into fish too! Sad I can't give you more Rep points...

Best,

Yeah it was nice to receive a hand off for once rather than giving my rod away! Ha ha. yeah the only reason it was a hand off because it was another native ho. it was either a hand off to me for the tag, or a release. it was nice that we both got to come home with something ! if it would have been a nook, I def wouldn't take it and just let him limit out. oh well. we were the lucky ones of the day. I think we definitely did the best out of everyone there that day.

yeah they havent even caught any nooks in the trap on Win. Creek, so those STEP terminal fish are still on the way as well.

Last year there was a good mix of fish in each river system through October. This year is looking to be the same way which is going to make for some killer fishing in the next 2-3 weeks. Look for that could water in the 50-53 degree water. If your bait is right along with the rest of your gear, your trolling speed, your angles you should have a greater chance at getting a hook up.

If you get a fish in a school of fish, hammer and follow that school. until you know they may not bite again aftep a couple of passes.

Blue foxes are a little light, but then again you only need to cast 10-20 feet out, get em deep and slow. I recomend, stopping at the bait or tackle shop and picking up some north county lures (spinners). (made in florence). Pink, green/white/ chart are the main colors i would choose. Look for lures that are 1oz - 1 1/4 oz. 1 oz is all you need with a mild tide.

BTW, the swivels on these lures are not too big, but they do keep the blade from spinning every once in a while. so i just started taking them off and tying directly to the spinner (no swivil) yes i got line twist, but i also started catching as soon as i took them off. You could also throw on a smaller swivil if you would like. That is anmendr reccomendation i got.
15-20 lb test is all you will need. I recomend putting atleast 15lb on. I have 17lb suffix mono (clear) picked it up at Cabela's for $9.99. I feel 17lb lb is perfect..

A am also using a 9 foot rod, if you get bit, dont set the hook, the fish will bite then follow, then bite again, then it will turn its head putting the hook in the corner of the mouth, when you feel the head shakes of a fish set the hook. You pretty much have to feed it to the fish, like YOU DO A STEELHEAD WHEN DRIFTING EGGS. The fish will most likely set it them selves.

Thanks for the info can't wait to get out
