Went out with Tanner (rippin fish lips) today to try and find some salmon. And we did! Ha ha. started out slow. saw a couple fish hooked and lost by people around us. then I hook into an unlikely subject. a dungie crab grabbed my lure. was not expecting to catch a crab! Ha ha. And then I hook into another unlikely subject. ended up landing a small native steelhead. didn't end up getting a pic of that one though cause I forgot while rushing to make sure that's what it was and to get it back in the water. oh well. was the brightest/ freshest steelhead I've ever seen though. was covered with sea lice. was pretty crazy. then eventually Tanner hooks up and I net his coho for him. a while longer with a couple bumps, Tanner hooks up again and ends up handing it off to me. nothing wrong with taking .an occasional hand off! Ha ha other than that we only saw 1 Other fish banked. and 6 or so others lost. most looked to be Coho, but a couple could have been nooks for sure. not a very good landing ratio today.

Fantastic guys! Awesome work.

Nicely done!

Thanks. yeah for the most part it was pretty slow action

Sounds pretty hot for bank fishing and you both tagged out.

Nice work guys! Looks like you got that place figured out and the fishing should only get better.

Did you see the coho retention at ODFW for last weekend? pathetic low numbers, so we're going to see a big spike in coho coming into the bays soon.

Yeah I'm still definitely trying to learn this spot. this is only my third time out there ever so I've got a lot to learn about that area still! Ha ha. yeah we definitely worked hard for those fish! We fished for almost 9 hours straight with no breaks(unintentional, just focused too much on fishing ha ha) I also busted myself pretty decent taking a fall on the slippery rocks. fun stuff! Ha ha. I just wish I took a pic of the little steelhead that I caught! :( That was a beautiful fish!

Yeah it was both of our first Coho of the year. feels good. Tanner told me he's addicted now too! And with good reason! Ha ha thanks

Thanks Brandon! Brandon's lil freshy baby steelhead was awesome looking! So chrome bright and see through fins, covered in sea lice. Sucks we didn't get a picture of it. Yeah... i got a new addiction and i want to be out there right now, i wish i could go out there tomorrow morning!

I reached my goal of catching my first coho and putting one on the tag this year. It feels good. The fight with these fish and these rocks and waves was awesome and was sure a good experience.

Way to go, I'm heading over to the slaw on saturday to do some more diving for crab , going to throw the rod in as well. I planned on using blue foxes just wondering what would work besides them?

Blue foxes are a little light, but then again you only need to cast 10-20 feet out, get em deep and slow. I recomend, stopping at the bait or tackle shop and picking up some north county lures (spinners). (made in florence). Pink, green/white/ chart are the main colors i would choose. Look for lures that are 1oz - 1 1/4 oz. 1 oz is all you need with a mild tide.

BTW, the swivels on these lures are not too big, but they do keep the blade from spinning every once in a while. so i just started taking them off and tying directly to the spinner (no swivil) yes i got line twist, but i also started catching as soon as i took them off. You could also throw on a smaller swivil if you would like. That is anmendr reccomendation i got.
15-20 lb test is all you will need. I recomend putting atleast 15lb on. I have 17lb suffix mono (clear) picked it up at Cabela's for $9.99. I feel 17lb lb is perfect..

A am also using a 9 foot rod, if you get bit, dont set the hook, the fish will bite then follow, then bite again, then it will turn its head putting the hook in the corner of the mouth, when you feel the head shakes of a fish set the hook. You pretty much have to feed it to the fish, like YOU DO A STEELHEAD WHEN DRIFTING EGGS. The fish will most likely set it them selves.

Should be a good mixed bag of fish all the way through october

Thanks rippin for the details! Gonna help out some people bankin it down the road for sure. You're a good dude for handing off a fish as well, not many guys will try to get their buddy into fish too! Sad I can't give you more Rep points...

Best,

yeah they havent even caught any nooks in the trap on Win. Creek, so those STEP terminal fish are still on the way as well.
