Why post pics ???

O
offdahook
i noticed some people dont even post the river which is fine by me i dont care. but i think its kinda chicken szit to post a pic and dont even post what river. i know people dont want their spot blown ,but it is more helpful to others to say the river at least, those who post pics but dont even give out da river or body of water is greedy imo. im not saying give out your secret spot but at least give out the river..anyway there was quite a few fishers at the cowlitz most got skunked i got a limit in 10 casts its all about knowing i used a bobber jig and spoon, after got ez limit of steel i fished for springer hooked a nice chrome springer and lost it hooked 2 more and lost those also. all in all a good day and yes i fished da cowlitz there i said it . Nice steel!!! Way to slay them!!

nice fish. i see you finally shaved

LOL

Don't stop at posting the river name. Take me with you. Show me your spot, techniques and send me home with the fish you catch....I mean if you don't want to be greedy. LOL

Oh no, some random dude on the internet that I couldn't care less about might think I'm chicken because I might not have posted according to his preference...<yawn>.

i just did it last week i helped a membor from wa lakes site i dont have a problem with it.

I read the first post several times. I guess I don't quite get what the complaint is. There are fish all over and so what if someone doesn't want to say where they went. To me it's more helpful to know about methods than locations. Get a copy of the regulations and a map and start fishing one river at a time. If anyone wants to guess where I might have fished, just draw a circle maybe 70 miles max with Independence in the middle and you can figure it out. That's about how far I'll drive to fish. But, stating locations , especially on some small or obscure locations is just going to make people mad.

i never said give out secret spot .but i know some people who post pics and dont even say what state it is its pointless thats all..oh and their is not fish all over only 10%imho

You have been killing them! I also agree about letting out body of water, I get a good feeling when I tell someone where they may catch some fish and they get back to you later saying thanks I did really well! I am close to fifty years of age and found that i feel really good when I can help someone else out and they have success, it is much better than keeping the secret to myself so I can show off to everyone else and say look at what I did!

Now THAT is GREED!!!

Most rivers are huge and have tons of bank access. Just because you may know some one from a website caught some fish there does not mean the next day when you go you'll hook into your limit. It takes time and dedication to be able to consistently catch salmon and steelhead.

I know iv been threatened before for posting pictures of nice fish from The Rogue River, not on this site, but another popular NW site.

BTW nice fish offdahook!

It is like I tell young guys coming into my trade, we were not born with the Knowledge, and if any one does not want to share there trials and errors then they are insecure with themselves and there ability to sustain their stature!

yeah, explain what kind of threats can you get posting information on a forum that is not confidential? and really why be on a fishing forum if you don't want to share, sharing pics without any info is bragging for the sake of bragging, and is really a pretty douchy if you think about it, in the outside world bragging just to brag could get someone thrown into a river. Also consider that if people shared more about their tactics, less people would be out fishing wrong and less fish would die from snagging and flossing and whatnot, My first time fishing steel on the kilchis, some @$$ told me to run a 6 foot leader off a weight in a spot that was barely 6 ft deep in the slot, i knew better from reading this forum and didn't follow his recipe. I could have been accidentally flossing if people hadn't shared info, and what you share isn't as important as the fact that you are sharing, we're a community here, we can hopefully behave as such!

and nice fish ya got there offdahook!!!

To be honest I don't think anybody is learning anything from your posts or many other posts on forums! You say what you used and what river you are on but if I just got into steelhead fishing yesterday that info would mean absolutely nothing to me. Heck, this post does not help me either and I fish for steelhead a lot. I don't care where you are anyone else on the forum are fishing and it really should not matter. I just think its cool to see reports and people getting into fish! If I want info on where you are fishing I will PM you. You could tell a beginner steelheader exactly what spot you were in and what rod, lure, weight, line and body wash you use and it would not help them catch a fish! These forums are for entertainment and every post with pictures is to brag. What are fisherman other than big braggers anyway. :D Same reason why we all feel so good carrying a limit back to the car. There are places where people can go to actually learn how to fish better with all the info they would ever need and fishing forums for the most part are not those sites. It kind of seems like your posts are kind of repetitive to me. Same fish, same river, upside down fish and black sharpie glasses. ;) I already know what the post is going to say before I read it. So others probably are not really learning anything helpful either. Like in this thread you say that lots of people are fishing and not many are catching but you so that does not help me know that the cowlitz is fishing well, only that you are fishing well!
