Those fish are fall fish, and they sometimes turn before they can even breach the mouth of the elk, those same fisherman also forget that the eggs and sperm sacks are nearly fully developed. Those aren't the "white" chinook that they catch in northern BC and alaska.
 
I'm very familiar with fall elk river fish and so are the commercial guys. We all know what a fish that matured in the salt looks like.
