Hey man, all i can say is that if you keep putting your time out on the river one will come right to you. I have fished for about 40-50 days since the run began. I work part time so i use the time that i would be sitting at home doing nothing to go fishing, I don't mind what time of day it is because you can catch a fish any time of the day.
The spoon i used was a 1/4oz Thomas bouyant spoon in the colors of (Rainbow/chrome) It is in my top 5 go to spoons for steelhead fishing.
Don't get stuck with one color in these spoons, if you have some $$$ go ahead and buy 1 color of each so you have a good color choice for water conditions.
The sun was shinin high on the river so i dicided to keep my color variation somewhat dark, A rainbow colored thomas will work perfect almost anywhere on a day like today was.
Ohh yeah.... One last tip, My buddy was tossing a Number 3 spinner with no hits in the same hole i pulled this fish out of... He got to the whole first, worked it with his spinners and got nothin, he moved up i waited about 3-5 mins then moved up 5 feet below where he was standing, kept my lures on the small side.
Oh yeah... and i started casting copper/brass before even going to the Rainbow/chome.
