Molalla river winter steelhead

Fish have been pouring over the falls the last week or so...I figure it won't be long and you will be posting a pic..

Heading up high in the morning if anyone else is going out. Rivers are on the drop!

I want to go there really bad but never been there before i think i just going to go to the Wilson!!!

The Wilson for me is about an hour and a half each way. Been skunked there plenty of times, if I'm going to not catch fish I'd rather not catch them closer to home.

LOL well i havent been fishing at all in about 2 weeks and i just need to get out!!! anywhere!!!

Well, was up at the deadline by 6:30 this morning. Fished down to the Glen something bridge, then went to Feyrer Park, then went to the 211 bridge. Quit about 11am. Nothing.

Does anyone know of any guides that run the Molalla? I will pay someone to show me where the fish are...

i do believe that Damon of GroundNPound may be able to help you with the Mo.. may be incorrect though. If so, want to double date?

I am not aware of any guides that run the Molalla, the fish should be in there, how was the height/ clarity?

Remember that one hole that you stopped and looked at and thought to yourself " eh looks a little too fast" or "that's way too shallow to hold fish". That's where the fish are. I've only managed to land the few fish I have out of the Mo, by fishing all sorts of water. Oh, and it took me almost 2 years to get any steelhead, summer or winter. I sense your frustration and determination. Just don't give up no matter what, and the fish will come to you. Here's a little Mo steel porn to keep your spirits up ;) P3060041.jpg 222112.jpg 216112.jpg

I'm game for sure. I just need someone to point out certain types of water and say "This is what it looks like and steelhead do such and such here". Just let me know. Do you know him? Or want me to get in contact with him?

Water was a bit high but clarity was nice, visibility was about 8'. Good off green color. It was about 12-18" lower than when I went out on Tuesday.

Adam, those are some nice looking fish, especially that last one.

is the Meadow brook bridge the bridge on your way to colton? I never no the name of that hole but pulled a 6 lbs or so one out of there a week ago

not a guide but I have been producing...lets go

I've got Thursday afternoon free. Picked up some extra shifts so working doubles Friday and Sat now... :(

Things I found today on the Molalla - A dead raccoon. A femur. A Dell laptop. A charcoal grill. A beach umbrella. A studded tire. Lots of sign of beaver, deer, elk, and raccoon. No fish though. No other bank anglers either though.

Talked to a guy in a drift boat above Wagon Wheel and he said he did "ok". Whatever that means. Talked to a couple of guys in a driftboat farther up and they said they got one. Both put in at the 211 bridge.

Couple shots from the river.

When are you going to drift it in the cat?

As soon as I find someone to shuttle with! If only I could manage by myself. I could bring a bike but I'd have to leave the cat and gear unattended for an hour or so biking back to the car.

I'll know my schedule for next week tomorrow, I'll have to see what days off I have....

Don't know why I always space this system

Kidz are both back in skool next week, so my schedule will be a little easier to handle. I have an idea to hit some 'untouched' water with the toon.
bring up google maps and stick 45.096233,-122.511154 in as the address. There is a little beach here that we can launch at. The water from here down to Feyrer Park is a little skinny, but looks toonable and has loads of water.

Meadowbrook Bridge is on 211 between Molalla and Meadowbrook 4 way/filling station. Easiest way to find it is look for the junction of S Wright Rd and 211. The bridge is about 200 yards away.
There are a lot of people who put in drift boats from there. Its a steep log slide, not really good for launching toon, but i have seen it done.
