Is a 15' foot aluminum boat too small for the Columbia?

What is a hog line?

I was wondering the same thing. I was assuming it was a line of anchored boats who all have poles out the back? :)

It's where boats will anchor along side of each other in a particular spot on a river. Pretty typical on the Columbia R and Willamette in Oregon City. On the Columbia boats are 10-30' apart. In Oregon City you'll see them tied to each other gunnel to gunnel. These types of Hog lines you have be one of in crowd to get in.

Edit: and yes your fishing out of the back of the boat letting the current do the work.

One thing on the Columbia is you might start out all by yourself but if someone see you catch a fish, you'll never be alone. Then there are days when you want to fish a particular spot and there will already be people there so you'll have no choice but join the crowd.
