Flies for carp?

8wt rod is fine. Overhaning blackberry bushes? Good! If they fish are feeding around them (they might not) make a fly that resembles a blackberry.

I've seen carp feeding on the bottom in relatively shallow water (3' deep) and about 10 feet away from shore. You have to be extra sneaky! they see EVERYTHING. Nymphs fished on the bottom catch fish. Especially if its a muddy bottom, dragging nymphs on the bottom is effective.

Good luck

thanks george, yes it's muddy theres a lot of vegetation im guessing hydrila or some s*%# and ovehanging blackberry bushes and another thing,, there are cottonwood trees all over that area LOL they have everything. i bet theres some 30+ lb carp in there they get in huge groups (50+ fish) and feed i the shallow water, but they are spooked very easy even with the boat, but ill try my luck this spring and see what i come up with.

The good thing is that once you are in position, as long as you stay still, most of the time the carp will come back. :P
