Once again the lane county sherrifs have given me yet another reason to not give them one ounce of respect ,and as far as I am concerned all they care about is money!!!!!!!!!!! Out on the river today and for the second time in my river rafting career had some idiot kids drinking at clearwater park start throwin baseball size rocks at me and my wife!!!!!!! The worst part was we had just passed a sherrif river patrol half a click up stream , so when I stopped and called them they said oh yes we will get them right over there . We waited a half hour and they must have been to busy writting kids tickets for life jackets to respond !!!! Dont get me wrong life jackets are very important ,definitely a life safety issue , but cmon a baseball size rock thrown from 50yrds could easily kill a person !!!!!!! And just to make matters even worse they didn't even have the decency to stop and speak with us when they finally passed us an hour later "at 30mph " think they didn't even respond havin a little to much fun I guess. well here it is you sherrifs are worthless and you wonder why people take matters into their own hands !!!! you can darn well bet that the next time this happens I will be in jail for kickin the!@#ER$TY^&U*I() out of some kids ,so you punks who want to throw rocks at boaters be on notice .I will also be filing a formal complaint with the lane county sheriff too!!!!!!!!!! for the rest of my fellow OFFers this is the second time this has happened to me at clearwater park last time I was hit in the leg so please use caution in that area cause the cops wont do nothin AND THEY DONT POLICE THE PLACE THEY OUGHT TO BRE ASHAMED!!!!!!!! .The first time it happened I waited two hours for them to arrive and they did nothing then !!!!!!! oops I forgot they asked me if Id been drinking ,Havent drank in 10 yrs !!!!!!! I told the cop let me hit you in the leg with a rock from fifty yrds and see how happy youd be !!!! Anyhow Im done but Ill be !@#$%^&* if some irresponsible punks are gonna keep us off the river.

I hope this wasn't inapropriate I must admit I am still steamed , and do not despise law enfocement as a whole , think it just bothered me so much because they were right there!!!! and did not even respond! The underage partying at the park needs to be dealt with before one of these incidents turns into a real tragedy! thanks for your support on this issue.

I'm with you, it seems like some times when you actually need the cops, they don't do anything. Like you, I don't dislike law enforcement in general, but it does seem like they tend to nit pick and spend their time doing some things that should be a little further down the totem pole.

I know one thing, about the time I leave the next little punk that tries this beaten and bloodied on the bank I bet the cops would be there in 5 minutes . The totem pole is true and the fact I pay them to do nothin makes it even tougher to swallow! oops I guess they do somethin , race up and down the river at 30mph and waive at ya! Here is something that might help you. We always see "our" side of the story. You needed their help, they were there, they didn't help. A no brainer. Not good. But may be you just don't know a piece of information that would change your opinion dramatically and would explain why the officers passed you without asking if you're all right. Just a thought

yo FP I thought i had a really bad day and i will make a post but man that sucks. You know they were too busy playing with there toy to care. And sorry anatoliy but I doubt they were doing anything important like saving lives while they wasted time upriver and it sounds like when they came down river they had a discription of the complaitant and blasted by without a care in the world. And also you add the previous experiance. Now who is in the wrong? the law! next time you have this happen just shoot the kid betwwen the eyes!. Had it been me i wouldnt have called anyone the first time. And i am sorry if this affends someone but this is what happens when you get a bunch of border jumpers trying to hang out at the local swim hole. I havent been to cleawater in years because its like going to lil mexico. I remeber as a kid 15 people was crowded. now its like theres only 50 people down there we better get a spot before it gets crowded. Next time call me and I'll take care of it.

I used to live 2 blocks from were I live now. Anyone who knows me knows I live in town, way in town. Apperantlu the old house "wasn't't" in town. my parents couldnt register there dog with the city. one time my moms boyfriend was out of hand and we called the cops but the sheriffs showed up. a few months before i moved here(over a year ago) ther e wree 2 girls probably 13-15 at the bus stop across the street. I was working in the garage and noticed them gettin into my mail box and diggin through my mail (suposably a federal offense). I whent over and got my mail and called 911 cuz i was pissed. I told them the story and when they asked for the adreess(keep in mind i live like 20 blocks from the cop shop) thay had to put me on hold and transfer me to the lane county sheriffs. than I had to tell them all about my emergency again(what if it was a murder) and they said they would TRY to get an officer there. i watched these 2 girls for 40 minutes before they caught a bus and left and i never herd from the law ever again unless you count the times i have been pulled over in my car or boat since then.

I hate the LCS as much as you FP!

wow, yeah thats BS!! and those are the kind of people that need to be escorted off our rivers, and yet the COPS were too "busy", ive said it before and ill say it again COPS are never around when needed, but are always sittin right there too hassle you for a tail light....dont get me wrong ive met good cops, but most only want to chat to see if there is any law brakage going on......and as for the punks throwing rocks....please, try that on my boating crew next time we roll threw, the Aluma-weld be beached in seconds....might treat um' like a northern pike minnow.

Always try and keep that in mind a little hard to think about when a baseball size rock misses your wife by less than 5ft and yes there was obviously no one drowning at the time Id wager my paycheck on that fact .Like I said they preffered to write life jacket tickets rather than promptly respond to a life threatening situation .I dont hate even these cops but if I performed like that at work I would be fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be spending my eves. this week drafting a formal complaint to send to the LAME county sherrifs dept. !!!!!!!!!!!

I don't condone nor promote violence...but perhaps an impromptu gathering of friends,family and fisher folk split up between water and the bank with as many cell phones as possible on the watch for brainless behavior would help. At the first sign of inappropriate behavior,ie underage drinking,throwing rocks,whatever, have everyone call the sheriffs department and lodge a complaint. Do this with each and every offense and I would bet they would have no choice but to show up. Allow 15 minutes for a response and have everyone call again...and again..and again. Constantly squeaking wheels take a lot of oil...

This is my opinion, so sorry it offends any of you. I dont mind the sherrifs and cops because if we didn't have them around this would be a hell hole! but i do think the sherrifs do a poor job while on duty, while fishing i always see them going up and down the river (i think just to have fun on the water, and to write little tickets to get there quoata done for the day). They need to send a boat for the LANE COUNTY POLICE in a boat in the river patrolling it! almost garuntee you they would do a lot better patrolling the river. or instead of having 2 boats patrolling a section of the river....bump it up to 3 or 4...and stop everywhere u can...every boat ramp on the way up and down..

Head south on 42nd street in springfield. turn left at the roundabout. turn right at the sign that says clearwater park and follow all the way to the river. parks looks nothing like it used to. its kinda crazy now standing there and trying to remember how it was.

The first time it happened I got them to finally come when I told the 911 lady they were approaching me and I was in fear of my life and was preparred to use whatever force including lethal to protect myself and then hung up and would not answer the 911 call backs ,then the lazy@#$%^&* finally showed up to do nothing!
