That’s a beauty. What type of lure/rig did you catch it with?

Senko! My go-to Florida bait, turns out they work everywhere lol

Pretty close, probably within 50'

I figured they would move up and down that moving water but maybe not

Alton Baker Canal Report

As usual, easy peesy!

Brought a bunch of lures I never throw just to get some experience with them

Unfortunately about 30 minutes in I got a call from the wife that we needed to take the dog to local emergency vet.

Still managed 4 in those first 30 minutes, I was the only one fishing on the water, one small group paddled by, and when I got back to the ramp there was 8 or 9 kayaks and canoes loading and unloading

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE PARKED AT THE RAMP, there's a sign but apparently no one sees it, I may make one and post it there myself

Also a pretty decent mud hole at the moment. Anyone know if alton baker is managed by the county or by the city?

I don't doubt it! The weather has everyone out and I don't blame them at all!

Heading out again tomorrow for another round, we'll see how busy it is

Happy Easter everybody! I fished the ole AB from about 11am to 5pm, with an hour break in the middle I caught 18 trout, 4 or 5 about 15"

And one nice largemouth!

Water was busy with people, not a lot of fishing but plenty of people put paddling.

Hope that your canine is okay.

Awesome! Great pics as well!

That bass is a toad! Seems like there are only monster bass in AB :)

Funny you bring that up, I've seen a couple juveniles but nothing crazy. I'd love if they threw maybe a 100 juveniles in there along the creek, at least introduce some new genetics.

Honestly I think there's 6 or so decent fish, and so far I've caught at least 3 of them that are for sure different fish.

2 of them are definitely repeats, within 20 yards of previous catches and same exact lateral lines.

But ive also seen some cruising the creek that I haven't caught for sure, usually chasing trout.

Haven't caught a perch or pike minnow out of there this year, water must be too cold yet?

Yeah we took her to the vet and got a nice 300$ bill for a shot of vomiting medication

Turns out she ate about 10lbs of cat food. And that's why she got sick in the first place!!

She's usually real well mannered, first owners were both air force officers and they had 3 little girls under the age of 10. They jogged with her 8 miles every morning and I'm sure the daughters did a number to her lol

She lives the retired life now. More like a cat than a dog really. Black lab/pointer who hates the water and being outside.

That bass must've put up a awesome fight!

Love catching me some LMB although I haven't caught any in Oregon yet.

Wait. What? A lab mix that doesn't like the water nor the outdoors? LOL

Well at least the little scoundrel is okay. And you've given her a good home.

P.S. It looks like she learned how to be at attention. ;-)

She's special to say the least lol, she won't point or chase squirrels and birds but dear lord another dog walks by and she howls like a blood hound, never actually heard her bark. Just howl
