Spending a couple days in a cabin on the mouth of the Yachats river. I noticed on a map that there is a single boat ramp kind of near where Ill be. I fished the mouth for trout a few weeks back and caught some really nice little natives. Anyone know much about this river? Ill probably be solo in the boat while my GF is in the cabin reading a book or some crap... Is it worth bring my boat all the way from Eugene? Or should I just fish what I can in my waders? Thanks for any info!

Waders- its a very small river

Don't think it's open for steelhead right now.

Sorry to say that the Yachats is closed:

Yachats River up to North Fork
including tidewater (Lincoln Co.)
• Open for adipose fin-clipped steelhead Jan. 1-March 31 and May 25-Dec. 31.
• Open for Chinook salmon May 25-Dec. 31.
• Only 1 adult Chinook salmon per day and 5 per year.

It is also closed for trout until May 25th as per general NW zone regulations.

Thus, the Yachats is closed to all fishing, even C&R. A couple of alternate suggestions: the Alsea is not too far away and open until April 30th (not sure if there is much to catch there or not at the this time of year) and the Red tail surf perch should be around in decent numbers in the surf.

Good luck.

Leave it to me to do something questionable. Good to know! Thanks a bunch!

If you're going this weekend: take your boat, and chase the trout at Cleawox Lake. I'm not quite sure, how far that is from Yachats. But, it's been stocked w/ 2500 this week.
