Worms?

Does anybody know where you can buy worms around the SE Portland area? There isn't any tackle shops by me at all or on the way to where i'm gonna fish today. I was thinking maybe BIG 5 or Fred Meyer but idk. Now that I think of it, there might be a little mini mart that has worms on the way to where i'm going. I'm going to Chinook Landing on the Columbia right out by Blue Lake. Isn't there that little place on Sandy Blvd that sells worms? Thanks in advance for the info!

Fred Meyer usually has worms. No guarantee, but usually.

Not familiar with that area but as Dr T (as opposed to Mr T) said, FM is a good bet. Also bi-marts always have bait. There is a bi-mart at:

4315 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland, OR ‎
(503) 771-1001

You can always call and check, but I have never been to a bi-mart that does not have a bait fridge in the back.

Fred Meyers have a bait cooler. I rarely fish worms, but last time I looked for them (Tigard FM, over the summer), they were out. Probably a rarity.

And depends how deep in SE we're talking -- there's a Sportsman's Warehouse (I think that's the one) near Johnson Creek and 82nd.

Sweet, thanks for the info. There is a Bi-Mart like 8 min from my house on 122nd and Halsey. Don't you have to have a member card to shop there? Just like Costco.

Ya I never fish with worms either, I dont like messing with them and putting them on the hook. Thats why I don't know where to get them. Maybe i'll just stick to my tube baitholder with some stink bait or maybe just some dough balls. Or maybe just buy some of the Berkley fake ones, I've heard those work well, they float too.

Look in your neighborhood at night after or during a good rain. You should be able to find plenty.

Good advice right there. And they're easy pickins (all stretched out), and FREE!

Just make sure you have your hatchery worm report card and your lower Columbia river worm endorsement, your invasive species sticker for your shovel.. and make sure your in a location where worming is legal after sunset... and please release any worms you don't use.. and if you must get a grip and grin keep the worm down in the dirt and don't hold him by the little collar thing that kinda looks like a fore skin..., remember a worm angled and released is a gift to another worm angler.... or a bird... ar an ole granny with a garden...

Yes you have to join. I think it is like a one time $5 fee. I think most sportsmen are members though since they do have a decent selection of tackle and bait.

Also, the slot limit is 6-8" and you are not allowed to lift an over-sized worm out of the dirt.

Bi-Mart has always had the best night crawlers, for store bought, in my opinion.
