So tomorrow morning the 23rd a buddy of mine and I are heading to the Alsea. I have yet to ever land a steelhead , I am hoping this will be my trip. I am beginning to think the St. Croix and Shimano gods find me unworthy. Everybody I talk to all say the same thing " once you hook your first steelhead you'll be hooked " um I am hooked now. Come on gods just give me a taste of that sweet sweet steelhead heroin ,I promise I will be responsible.

Well on that note hopefully I have great news to report tomorrow evening.

Good luck and post the successful day!! Btw you will be hooked!! Fish porn tomorrow!!

Go get 'em! A frozen tukus is an even trade for a lifetime addiction...

Good luck Mr. Sage...bag 'em n' tag 'em!

They are in there but start at misourri bend and work down past 5 rivers. Just a bunch of crustie salmon above that.

I might get put Monday. How is access on the alsea? I fished the nestucca a week ago and struggled with access. No fish either, but I kind of expect that. I haven't done any winter Steelheading and fish with a flyrod. Not the best odds of success.

There is great access along hwy 34. Mile marker 15-20 is pretty good. Actually i watched a fly fisherman hook one and it wrapped him around a log and got off. It is not hot by any means, but there are some fish in there. a lot of salmon to keep you entertained.

Thanks...I don't mind splashing around and flinging flies...catching something is a bonus!

We didn't touch anything. I didn't take my fly rod it's only a 5wt. E tried several different places. There were quite a few people down below boundary. The water seemed pretty low , I am not 100% sure this was my first time fishing the Alsea fit the most part. we went up by the hatchery , to Clemens ,5 rivers and then under the bridge st boundary a few people had landed. Hopefully in the next couple Weeks or so the rain will come and raise the water
