As of last week the gate was still closed so it would be a two mile walk in for you. Call up the ranger there in Zig Zag and check it out. The lake will open for day use before it opens for camping and if you can get in there at that time the fishing will be awesome. My son had a phenomenal day there once when we took my mother up there during that time. I chose not to fish but he went out on the float tube with a fly rod and an olive wooly bugger and if he didn't get a fish within three casts, he thought the bite was off. I had to walk half way around the lake to get into yelling distance to tell him it was 5pm and we were leaving. I'm sure he would have stayed and caught every fish in the lake by 8 if I hadn't done so.
