What's with the springers?

Maybe it's just me, but springer fishing so far this year seems to be a bit dismal...I have not heard too much about the valley streams(clack, santiams, etc) heating up and trips to the Nestucca and Trask have proved to be ssssssssssslow...maybe just a bad year? Any input would be nice...

The fish are coming. I bet we see the light switch flipped by the end of the week. I know of a lot of spring salmon connected on already.

Just because you're not hearing about it, doesn't mean it's not happening. There's a lot being caught. A lot of people keep it on the DL to savor the peace on the river as long as possible. Because once people start chasing reports, it all goes to hell, rapidly. It's a late season mirroring last year. There were chromers caught on the last day of the season last year

The Clack has already had fresh chrome push through past Estacada lake. There were a few around this weekend but with the trout season open, it just brings more pressure. The fish are all over, down low, up high, some are even to their spawning grounds by now.

I was thinking the same thing, but like the posters here people have assured me its going to start heating up. People must be talking about it because there were about 12 boats on the water at one of my spots this morning. Hardly seemed worth the alarm going off at 4am on my one day off this week.
