While fishing above trail bridge last year, I found this strange skull. I have researched and shown this thing to biologists, and still have not been able to identify. I think it may belong to a fish, but I need more insight! Guesses or even some tips for more resources would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think it is a fish.

???

Maybe Modest man can tell?

Interesting,

I think you found a dead alien's skull. Take more pix, sell 'em to the Star or National Enquirer. Thing could be from Zeta Reticuli or Ceti Alpha V...

X2 ^ I'm Wit GungasUncle definitely an alien. crazy with those bone antenna things i would not wana run into that thing on the river thats forsure!!!!!

A dragon skull!!

Kinda looks avian but I don't think it is. Who knows. I've found some bizarre bone piles above trail bridge, weird stuff up there...

It's not a fish - not sure which biologists you've spoken with, but jeese - if you spoke with a biologist they should have been able to tell you it's not a fish.
How can you tell its not a fish?

I don't think so, this critter doesn't appear to have had teeth.?

This is what the biologist thought, too. No beak on this one, but if it had one and it decomposed faster than the skull, this would be a very large bird.

Oy, there is a structure that looks like a vertebrae, I think this may be a sacrum, not a skull.

s h 1 is correct! It's a sacrum of a large turkey/bird, not a scull. Ever carve up a turkey? See the oyster pockets. Tony

OK, that's what it is, but now there is another mystery. Why would someone discard their turkey carcass at the river??

LOL,

LOL,

Crawfish bait.

Fried chicken bones is the best craw bait I've ever used. Maybe fried turkey works just as well. I dunno how that would fit in a craw trap though!
