south jetty beach and stood in the surf through the high tide yesterday.
All I got was cold and damp.
Either I ain't got the feel or I'm doing something wrong.

Just got back from the same spot today, no perch but I did get 2 keeper crab at the dock! I have been doing ok on perch at the N Jetty!

I visited florence 4 times and every time I went fishing on the north jetty I had no luck , only caught a few 4-5 inch greenlings, I've tried jigs, bait, spoons, spinners and not a single bite. I know guys who have a lot of luck but I guess since I'm not from there thats why the fish don't like me. Meanwhile at the places I fish here in depoe bay, newport, lincoln city I have great luck with ocean fish.

My answer to you is find a local who has luck and is familiar with the place. And fish with him. Or try different techniques.

Look familiar? Roger get your yak out in the bay the keeper crab are starting to show! IMG_0800.JPGIMG_0801.JPG

I haven't tried fishing with a sand spike to hold my rod.
I have been using the technique I learned fishing on SoCal beaches.
Casting a Carolina rigged gulp sand worm into the surf and reeling just enough to keep a feel of my weight.
Hasn't worked for me here.
I stopped at the crab pier on my way out and witnessed baskets of crabs being caught bu they were all undersized.
