Wasn't expecting this.

I finally got a good day of fishing instead of just a couple of hours and went to one of my favorite spots. It was a bad start to the day as I had to take my dog to the vet and didn't get to fish at first light. Then I grabbed my drift rod instead of my float rod and didn't realize it until I got there. The spot I go to is very snaggy for drifting and I usually float jigs over a small section of rocks into a deep hole. Also took the fly rod to try it out some more but got to the hole that was about a mile down from the car and forgot my flybox. So I was limited to the one fly I had and tried for a while for some steelhead. Ended up snagging and lost the fly. Got the drift rod and tried a spinner. On the third cast hooked into what I thought was a steelhead. The fish was a great fighter and just wanted to go deep. It didn't roll or jump once, just wanted to go deep. Got the fish into the shallow water after about 10 minutes and pulled out this nice bright springer. Wasn't expecting it and caught it on 12 lb P-line with 8lb fluorocarbon leader. I was extremely happy since I haven't had much time to fish all summer and was geared up for steelhead. The fish was just over 31 inches and I didn't weigh it but guessing around 10 pounds.
