Too high up?

Getting ready to put in a few more days on the river and was thinking about the Sandy although I heard it was running a little low. But as I'm still new to this how high is too high up to fish on the Sandy? I know of a couple smaller spots that are more hidden than most of the public parks but they are a little far up stream.

Is there a point that's too high up to fish in the winter? With it being pure glacier fed the water obviously can be super cold but the spots Im thinking of I have seen fish pulled out in summer. Just want to know if its a waste to go higher to try and avoid crowds. Thoughts?

It's all good below the deadline

Just make sure you're not fishing above the deadline. Always check the regs.

Don't go above the mouth of the Salmon River. The Sandy above the mouth of the Salmon doesn't open until July 1. Theoretically the hatchery fish are suppose to make a right turn at Cedar Creek and vanish from the Sandy. So fishing above Cedar Creek you would run into mostly nonhachery fish. But sometimes those hatchery fish can't read a map too well and blow by Cedar Creek. Right now the Sandy is running at 9.94' just below Dodge Park. That is pleanty of water.

Interesting, I was looking at just a bit below the Salmon but almost that high up. So it should be legally fishable right? The next question is it worth fishing there... Seeing as I have yet to land a Steely I obviously have no idea...

There are fish all over the system. If you going to fish that high up though, might want to go barbless, its going to be 90% Natives.
