Timber Linn or Waverly pond questions

Since the rivers dont open for a couple more weeks for trout. I am sort of confined to stock still water bodies. Being in Corvallis and not having much fuel to drive to places i would prefer. Can anyone tell me about Timber Linn or Waverly pond in albany? I know they were stocked last week, however I dont know how long those places get "fished-out"

I will be using my fly rod and if someone has some other suggestions please feel free to let me know. I want to get out tomorrow or may wait until next weekend if I have to

Thanks again

Timber Linn's pretty small so it probably gets fished out pretty quick. Waverly is a lot bigger so it probably takes a bit longer. If you keep your fish to eat then I'd fish Timber Linn because water from the street runs right into Waverly. lol The Freeway Lakes isn't too far away either.

I fished Timber linn today for the first time and it took awhile to catch any fish. What I found to work best today was a small egg hook with 2 pautzkes eggs on it on a leader about 12" to 18" long. We took home 12 fish today, but it was a lot of work to get that many and not many people took any home. I hear they are going to stock both these waters and I have never fished Waverly. If fishing from bank I suggest Timber Linn over Waverly with a fly rod. Both of these waters get a lot of pressure and I think Timber Linn gets the most pressure of two lakes. If you have float tube I would suggest you look at Freeway Lakes and another option would be E.E. Wilson. Just don't forget to have a parking pass @ E.E. Wilson.

I say neither, if you live in corvallisits only 15-20 minutes to the nf alsea. Go catch a steelhead. Went today and there are still decent amounts of fish in there. It might be the last week though before the runs over.
They also let go a bunch of 8-10 inch baby steelhead. Not that you would target them but the little buggers are fun on. Fly rod. Its up to you. 8-10 inch pellet heads or big old steelhead?

well when i plan on using a 3wt... a pellet head.
TTFishon I dont think they will want me to um bring fish back to my dorm.

As for freeway lakes last I heard is that it was still pretty murky out there.

Freeway is pretty murky.

If you go to Threeway Lakes (aka Freeway Lakes), the trout only stay in the lake farthest east of Three Lakes Road. The other two lakes do interconnect; but do not provide the correct habitat for trout. I've been there DOZENS of times over the years. Those other two lakes, however, do support bass and panfish. IMO, the best place to fish that eastern lake, is right next to the bridge (there's only one, so you'll know where).

The biggest fish that come out of Timber Linn, are about 100 feet in front of the only bridge there too. IDK about fly fishing. But, rainbow power bait/power eggs combo OFF the bottom does well. Also, a worm about 5' under a slip float also nails 'em.

Waverly is somewhat larger than T. Linn. I suspect that it is also deeper, and cooler, which trout like. Its well developed, and easy to walk clear around the lake. So, just work it as you go.

If you want to go a bit farther; Olalla Reservoir is awesome. Its about 1:10 from Corvallis to parking lot and lake. And to the east about 45 minutes, is Foster Reservoir.

Good luck.
