Had a good time the other day. Caught 2 and lost 3. Got a good 10-12lb wild buck and 5-6lb hatchery hen. Of the three I lost, one should have been landed but it wrapped around a random floating branch at the last moment before landing and snapped off. The other was pretty small and went airborne and spit the hook. The third was at the end of the day and I was so freaking cold, wet and numb I didn't get on it quick enough and it managed to spit the hook. No complaints here though.

Great job, beautiful fish! Glad you seem to have shaken the streak of hooked then lost fish!

Randy

Thanks Randy. Switching from mono to braid was a big help on getting good hooksets. Plus I've learning how to fight these fish better, gotta be on your toes!

Great Job & Beautiful Fish! I went 0 for 3 yesterday....poor hook set cause I was rowing in shallow riffle water, got rubbed off, and operator error. The first two I can live with, but the operator error is hard to swallow. Just tied a bad knot as I think I cut the tag too short. Still a great day on the water, got a little wet and cold late in the day and had to fire up the heater for the Little Lady so maybe she will go winter fishing again. I broke one of my rules fishing on the weekend but it wasn't bad and all the other guys were very cordial. Great day on the water.

I hear ya, it's the ones that got away when I know I could've/should've done something different that eat at me. Weekend fishing uggghhh, went to the Sandy on Sunday, started at Oxbow at sunrise and then headed to Dodge mid morning and that river was insane!!!! I haven't seen that many people since salmon season. Saw only one guy with a fish that day.
