Whats the deal with the Rogue River? can I go wet a line any old time?

Below is a list of booking dates for a local guide service. They should hold pretty true, I'd just look at the tides and watch the weather reports for the area if you're aiming for anadromous species such as steelhead or salmon. I'm told there is also a striper fishery there as well as a decent bottom fishery. I've seen lots of pictures of large Fall Chinook, but I was told by a buddy about 5 years ago all the Chinook that were in that year were little football shaped 15 pounders.

Winter Steelhead
January - April

Spring Chinook
May - July

Fall Chinook
August - December

Summer Steelhead
July - October

Smallmouth Bass
July - September

Shad May - June

There are no small mouth in the Rogue thank God and I don't think there are any shad either. Looks like you copied a guides info from the Umpqua and yes there is a striper fishery on the Umpqua and Smith!

Yeah what Coho kid gave is from the Umpqua. If you want some decent reports from the medford area check out the Mailtribune Reports. It's good at telling you what you can fish for on the different sections and provides decent reports. I also update my blog anytime I go out.

Mailtribune is a nice report. Sorry about the mix up with that cut and paste.

Thats not a problem, thats some great info for those in the area!
