Stolen boat motor

My buddy just bought his first boat that came with a nice 1996 25hp Merc. He had chained it up outside of his house in Sellwood, OR and someone cut the chains then stole the motor off his boat. He only took the boat out once when he bought it so needless to say he is pretty upset. He filed a police report and posted on another fishing forum so I thought I would re-post it on here. He has the serial # and so do the cops, but as we know that is a remote possibility, but definitely worth mentioning. Send me a PM if you see any 1996 25h Mercs for sale out there.Thanks F&C

I had that happen to me years ago and now I use a cable chain and bolt the motor to the transom then mangle the threads so they have to be cut OFF. Extreme I know but it works!

That's messed up, hopefully it shows up. If a tweaker uses Craigslist it will. Your buddy should be calling all the local marine places that buy and sell boats and motors too
