Dan-

We use shimano '2500' reels to cast spinners for coho, spooled up with 20# braid or 12# nanofil, no problems so far with a Sienna or Spirex.

I really like the IM7 based rods from Cabelas and definitely recommend them: Cabela's Tourney Trail® EVA Split Grip.
I use the TTESGS704 (7' M action) to spin for coho and the TTESGC705 (7' MH action) to troll for chinooks.
$64.99 is the normal price but I got mine on sale for $49.99 and they have both proven themselves very good at bringing in salmon...:pride:

cheers, roger

I like the IM7's a lot as well. Have 1 for salmon and one for steelies, got them both on sale around Christmas for about half price. Seems they go on sale about that time every year. They are nice rods for the price!

Can never go wrong with a 9' or 8'6" IM8. Just dont face plant into the rocks and jam your rod tip into them and your set. (did that last week)( :(

I did that a couple of days ago, got a cut up swollen knee but I saved the rod!:smug:

I'm partial to Daiwa DXS rods. IM7 and available with really good choices of actions.
