Yup! I have learned to pay close attention to what the water looks like (where people are catching fish), Remember what that water looked like and start trying to link it to different spots on the river.
changing up your "presentations" is a must if you are not getting any action. Colors don't matter, but they do help so don't be afraid to cast a color that you have never felt confident in.
Just being out there on the river is the main part of getting into these elusive fish. If you are fishing above or near them you are at the right place, keep taking the time to learn those holes. Learn every pocket, riffle, seam, shoot there.
Put a beating to every hole you fish on every trip. Put 100% effort into it every outing and you will start hooking up.
