Schooled by the SNL

Took my son-in-law to Garibaldi for surf perch yesterday. This was his first time fishing the surf. After showing him how to rig and where to cast, he proceeded to totally school me. We fished from 7-11. I brought in 5 to his 19. We turned them all back. They averaged from hand size to 8-9 inches. We had a great time and as for weather, you could not ask for a nicer fall day. While eating lunch we saw one boat net what looked to be a coho just inside the bar.

I'm thinking he was doing the opposite of me. He wants to go chase salmon Saturday. I'm a little apprehensive, I hate combat fishing.
