Hit the Alsea today in search of steelhead. The river was low and clear, so we abandoned the N. Fork and headed down below Five Rivers. Talked to a couple of boatrs that had done OK, so we found a decent looking run and started fishing it pretty hard.....mosd put a sandshrimp on and first cast....FISH-ON!!!!
As I see it surface the first time, I say" Man that looked an awful lot like a bright nook."
Well, it was..... January Nook.jpg
Quick grip n grin then released....

Friends of mine went 4-5 on the Umpqua with one of the 4 being over 40lbs. The one they lost was as big as this guy....

Guide Charlie Brown @ FishingTheRogue.com Got his mom into this nice one recently on the middle rogue. They said it was 39.5

After around 200 casts or so and landed this nice little ho. Was my last native for the area, so need to either find some hatchery hos or some nookies, or start hitting somewhere else. was the only fish I saw from the banks this morning. I'm happy with it :)
