Wont bore you with an all detailed story this time (unless you guys want the whole story) but I woke up super early with a couple friends and took them to one of my new fav. spots (thanks to dtikey) few hours in bobber down, fish on! Then ink the tag. Pretty slow day overall. Only saw a couple others caught out of like 30-40 others on the water.....

Well, I got bored and decided to make a thread anyways. So for my first day of hard hitting this week for steel got interrupted by some good ol' late run chinook. It can be really good out there this time of year but there just wasn't too many fish around...

Get to the water before light and was checking out some water when an older guy approaches me and eventually asks me if I'd accompany him on a float down the river in his nice little wood drifter. I politely accepted after we were talking about how I was suppose to be taking the drift boat out yesterday but things changed and had to hit the bank.. He was really interested in Fall Chinook and wanted to leave the steel alone. That didn't bother me much considering I haven't got out this fall like usual...

Well, the day started off slow and the fish just weren't where they should've been. . Saw a few nooks and 1 steelhead caught and the rest of the boats nothing yet..12 o'clock comes around and we had our first pulverizing takedown. After a long battle in some gnarly water we land# 1. Whooo bit of pressure off...We go down around the corner and drop our lines down and bam another one hits then pops off after a brief acrobatic performance. We get three more take downs with only one sticking.. Was about the same as this fish. Its litterally at the boat then decides to pop off... For those of you who fish Kwiks you know this doesn't happen often. Was a bummer! Things definently started to pick up in the end and was a great day overall. Just want to say thanks " Jack" for taking me out on your boat and showing me some things. He primarily floats the Nestucca/Elk and what not. He was a good guy with a lot of knowledge since hes been floating these rivers since the late 70's...Hopefully I can keep the pictures coming these next few days.

Tight Lines
