headed out to McIver this morning and did a bit of fishing... it was slow for the most part. other then my first cast lol. I should have stayed home. I ended up killing a smolt on accident with a size 3 blue fox w/ siwash. hooked it through the top of the dome. it was shaking when I brought it in..... sad.
decided to move up, as the rafting crew arrived, to some less disturbed water. right below the dam. so I was up in a tree over looking the tail out right below the dam, when I spotted some steel sitting at the top of the shoot. after making a few cast with various spoons and spinners, I decided to take a different approach. I would wade out and make shorter cast with smaller gear? might work right..... not lol
I spooked them long before I was in the right spot to cast effectively. but during my wadding id discovered somebody had been sandbagging the slot.... literally. so I pulled out 3 sand bags and removed the fishing mess. this put me into a whole different mind frame. I spent the next hour wadding around and clearing all kinds of drift/flossing gear, spinners, spoons, and bobber junk out of there. moved the sand bags back, just incase they were placed there by the army corp of engineers or something..... didn't want legal issues. you never know now ah days.
I packed out all the line and some other garbage along my hike back. so I surely didn't leave empty handed today, for a few reason's = )
I think I will try to make a habit of this during the summer months. maybe I should invest in a snorkel and some fins... oh and an onion bag for all the trash
