Row River Steelhead

I was fishing for cutthroat on the Row River yesterday, when I hooked a steelhead nearly 30" in length and weighing 7.5 lbs on a #2 black body/silver blade spinner. My question: is it usual to find steelhead on the Row River (below the Dorena dam), or did this one simply wander upstream from the Willamette (via the Coast Fork)? In any case, this is only my third steelhead--one on the MacKenzie last summer, 1 on Indian Creek in January--and a very nice surprise indeed and the best fighter of the bunch.

Here's a couple of photos. (I'm the happy old guy):

Congrats! Might have to fish there some day.

It's normal. The Row has a small steely run. Nice fish!

later in the year I have heard rumors of them pretty thick below the dam and fairly easy to catch.Dont know for sure just what I have been told. Very nice fish and congates to you on yours

Excellent fish. I'd rather catch one while fishing for something smaller like trout and be surprised I think. Thx for sharing.

I bet that was an awesome surprise!

You may even encounter salmon in the Row...
