Went fishing yesterday at casey park past shady cove, hundreds of people were lined up from the hatchery all the way down to shady cove poaching an snagging salmon out of the river! They were all in boats anchored up or standing on shor doin the flip an rip with with a huge weight an a hook with no bait trying to hook a salmon anywhere they can to drag it in!

Did you call the ODFW poachers hotline? The number is 1 800 425-7788. Considering the State is in great need of more revenue, they should be there with bells on, handing out fines,.

Must of been your first time up there? a lot of the guys actually line them in the mouth there. Not saying its right. Also most of the fish are hatchery so I don't think the authorities really care. Not a lot a fun to watch or fish there. Gotta get in a boat to get away from most of the flossers/snaggers.

Ironically, the county Sheriff will put a guy with video camera in the bushes to catch rafters who drink while boating from the dam to the take out at Shady Cove. He radios ahead so they are meet by deputies, who detains them with jail jewelry and promptly places them in the seat of shame; in the back of the cruiser.

Unfortunately that is 99% of what happens from the bank for salmon on the Rogue. There is 0 enforcement and it gets worse every year. It's now so bad that it's spread to the boats as well. You've got to be on the water and below that zoo before 6.

Are you not allowed to drink on a boat? BUMMER

Got checked in Washington last week. Had 3 or 4 beers over the course of several hours. I asked the officer what the actual rule was for drinking. He replied something along the lines of, "I don't know, and I don't care, I'm here to check fish, not intoxication."

It really doesn't matter if they are lining fish. The outside of the mouth doesn't count, or the cheek or lower jaw. Its a shame because salmon are easy to catch if you do it right!

snaggers are poachers. there is no distinction, plain and simple, any attempt to snag a game fish is poaching, regardless of whether it works or not.

the regulations are clear on what is illegal: "19. Snag or Attempt to Snag Gamefish". (page 11, 2014 perm. regs).
