Rogue River help

Hi all,

I dont live anywhere near the Rogue or Umpqua but plan on passing through the area in a few days. I was wondering if any Pacific north-westerner would be will to tell me a few easily wadable areas I could hit for a couple hours as I drive down to Reno Nv. I am not familiar with any roads other than Interstate 5. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. If you are ever up in my area around Cashmere and the Wenatchee River, I will gladly tell you my holes that do well. Again I am just passing through and would like to throw a few spey casts if someone doesn't mind telling me some decent areas. Thanks again and God Bless

Valley of the Rogue State Park is a rest stop off of I-5. I personally havent fished it but have drove by it hundreds of times.

If you want to venture away from the freeway and still fish the Rogue try Touvelle Bridge/Park. I used to fish that area quite a bit when I lived in Medford. Its only about 10 or so miles off the freeway. Lots of area you can wade and fish.

Thanks Shane, I will definitely look into it.

well he said medford? so if your down that far south hit behind seven feathers casino there's some steelhead in there right about now. you can't miss that exist right off I-5 , good luck! and throw back native steelhead and bonk those fin clipped ones haha!

K, I will go there too. Yes I will be passing through Medford. Even any Umpqua places would be nice.

Yeah behind the Casino would be a good option. Or in that area, considering you wouldn't have the stress of finding certain roads. Im sure more people will chime in today..

AHH, the Wenatchee eh? My best fishing buddy went up there 3 weekends ago and came back with a huge smile on his face.. He goes... " Man, we caught so many fish up there in two days, it makes Oregon look terrible "

Valley of the Rogue Park is a nice place to spey fish. Whether your swinging flies or nymphing. I fish upstream from the ramp to the I-5 bridge. There is a nice ledge to nymph along. I was fishing there last week and hooked a couple fish there on a big copper swan and a egg pattern dropper. The flow is very slow so it would be easy to swing a fly down deep, good luck.

Thanks Matt. I will check it out.
