Recommendations?

I was hoping that somebody could tell me what they would recommend as lures for fishing on Yaquina Bay. I'm looking to catch any kind of bottomfish/rockfish. What is your recommendation?

I don't know up there but down in Charleston I've only caught them on sandshrimp. Although, once we were staying at Depot Bay just North of town and I didn't have bait so I cracked open a mussell and caught some doing that. Opening up their bellies I noticed they were full of tiny little fish. But the fish I caught were small too. I don't what you'd use for the bigger fish.

I'm thinking of using 3" soft plastic shad. Not sure if it'll work, but I figured I'd try it out.

That could work. I have used sand shrimp and clam necks on Crappie spreaders. I have caught black seabass while fan casting along the jetty with a red and white spoon similar to a red devil.

If you mean a Daredevil, I agree! If you can find them...use ones with a Copper backside. Those out fish the silver or brass backs greatly.

I've not flipped any brass colored Little Cleo spoons in Salt Water. But, those may be effective too. They are my "go to" spoon for fresh water.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have multiple spoons. I have a Red & White (the largest), Orange w/ black spots (second largest), Green w/ yellow spots and a Rainbow Trout one (the smallest of the group). They all have Treble hooks. I've thought about trying a 3" soft plastic chartreuse shrimp that I have a few of but I'm not sure if it'll work. I will be trying my Red & White spoon though.
