Done with summer.....I'm over it!

Tired of being hot!!!

It would appear that there are fall chinook spread throughout the main Umpqua.....I had 2 bobber downs in as many cast's.....both hens! ;) The oldest is coming for a little elk hunting and the Coho opener....need to save a few punches for some bright Ho's!!!

Firing up the smoker again!

Nice ones Mad Dog!

A few of us are planning another pontoon float there in a couple weeks. We'll be targeting smallies below the Kellog bridge. But should I bring some salmon gear? And what would be good to use right there plugs? Bobber and bait?

Nice mad dog! I had no idea they were up the river already even before the rains come.

Meat looks delicious,

Very nice!!!

Man those are some nice ones! Seems like everyone one here is making me jealous lately! I need to get back on my game! Nice fish again and good job as always!

Those look ideal for the smoker. I drove along the Umpqua last week on my way to Coos Bay for work. Brought my gear but ended up just doing some recon but I noticed in that there were people fishing high up in a specific place in the morning and then only a couple people in the afternoon when I was coming back through. Didn't see any other people fishing bank or boat otherwise until I got into Reedsport. I assumed they were targeting salmon based on the number of people but wasn't close enough to see what they were tossing out.

Hell yes!!! Bring a Salmon rod rigged with a float! Bring some pink or red herring bone wiggle warts as well and cast them on your bass gear it you see lot's of Coho rolling....you won't even remember that you went to bass fish!!! :D

It's funny where you will see people fishing for salmon in the fall, some holes collect fish and some don't, I think lot's of them shoot upriver quickly to specific stretches of the river where tributaries are.

It may look delicious, but I'll guarantee you that it tastes like fall chinook! until it's smoked anyway!

Fish are in the river right now! These fish will probably be spawning by October.
