we have a 1-2 acre pond we want to fill with trout for fun. curious to what fingerling trout go for these days and where to get em from? we'd probably get 500-1000 of em.

Have you called ODFW? That would likely be a good place to start. Maybe call a hatchery too.

BTW, I don't think that I'd plant that many in small pond. I'd rather have a few dozen fish grow big n' fat...rather than have a bunch of small stunted fish. Just my .02.....

ODFW, Troutlodge, Prairie Springs Fish Farm and probably the best resource is Oregon Aquaculture Association. OAA has a list of fish farms in Oregon that provide for private ponds. Some of them even have steelhead, sturgeon and bass too! Check it out online and make some phone calls! Also, OAA has other good resources that would educate you on keeping a healthy pond for your gilled friends!

+1 here on both counts. For context, a mile of river with 1,000 fish would be a heck of a fishery.

Lake's trout farm on 126 west. I don't think he has retired yet. Him and his wife run a private pond stocking trout farm.

Mr Lake's phone number is (541)935-1071

thanks Jeanna!

we did some looking today, found out we can get steelhead, kokes, bows, and triploid trout... oh the choices!

I would go with the triploid they will grow much faster.

but then they'll get to big for the bass to eat :)

Bahaha it's like feeding goldfish to piraña :)
