Plunking ( Corvallis )

Hey all,

So I got a few questions here that I'm hoping some of you can answer. Have any of you guys plunked near Corvallis for Summers and Springers? And those of you that have, has anyone had any luck? From my google searches and looking at old threads on forums ( That popped up on google ) it seems the success is few and far between. I've found 2 decent spots recently that I haven't tried yet, but plan on it soon that look legit. They are both near a sandy-ish shore with an easily seen lane of travel for these fish that are destined for the Mckenz and such. I've plunked the Willy near OC and on the Columbia multiple times with excellent success. Usually casting about 15ft off the bank with a spreader, 6oz Pyramid with a 3ft leader to a variety of Spin-Glows, and coon shrimp if necessary. The spots I found on the Willy near Corvallis are somewhat similar to those I have plunked in the past. Going to start trying these spots out on the weekends when I visit my girlfriend in Corvallis for atleast a few hours. Just want to know if any of you have ACTUALLY had success as from what I've researched it seems pretty rare to tie into one. Which only makes me want to go nail one that much more....

Tight Lines,

I go under the Independence bridge on the east side about once a year just to remind myself how boring plunking is. Yes, I caught one once. Usually you can lay eyeballs on them when they come through the shallows which helps keep the excitement level up. It's 20 miles from Corvallis. If you go there, wear waders to ford the slough. I never see a soul there because they are all at the "social security hole". I can pm you another spot that's probably better.

In 52 years, I have never seen anyone ever plunk the Willy around Corvallis. And, I've lived here that whole time. So, I'm wondering if it would really be worth the effort?

But who knows; maybe you'll start a new wave of plunking?

The few spots I have found are sure travel lanes.

The question is; will I tie into a few?

First hour water time a bit ago, yielded nothing. Count-wise over the falls things are just now starting to pick up and peak timing is near a month away...I'm as curious as anyone as to what my action will be, but I'm determined to put a few hours in to find out.

I see NO reason why it can't be good atleast a few days over the next month or two. There has to be waves of fish coming up just like in the lower river. We shall see...

Trying a new spot that has potential....always worth it.

I've never plunked so I can't help here.

When it's 1000 fish per day that's a fish every 86.4 seconds minus the ones that go up the Santiam. That's a lot of fish and they've got to be somewhere, right? Lockjaw notwithstanding, go for it!

My point exactly...Im getting one!

I haven't heard much but have also been interested in fishing the willy for summers around august or so which is usually around the time me, my dad, my brother in law, and a friend or two do a four or five day float trip from Armitage park to Corvallis. I actually tried for steelies last year pretty hard but never got one which isn't saying much since I hardly can catch a steelhead on any river in general. I will see what I can find out at my work though.

Lol. This year is a new year...You'll tie into them. Hit me up this week..Lets go fish the Mack after your outta work ...

Yeah at least I have more confidence on the Mack since I hooked a few fish on it last summer but rookie mistakes kept me from getting them on the bank.I'll hit ya up tomorrow or somethin to hit the river.
