I caught a nice native within 5 minutes early Sunday morning, Then lost two do to operator error ( eating sandwich while fishing ;) and then something I have never seen before, four sea otters within easy casting distance. the next five hours spent throwing the gauntlet at nothing. Talking to Mike confirmed my suspicion that the sea otters ran the fish off. I thought I was starting to loose my touch  I still ended up with a great weekend to remember.

I've seen otters DEVOUR coho before, it was surreal, they're fierce lol. They have a way of clearing out a hole. pesky critters.

yeah seen them do the same thing Jeanna...seen them take steelhead in shallow water also.Good job Ray way to get em in low cold water buddy your coming right along

Way to go, you earned it Sunday. I saw an otter catch a coho at Tackinitch lake clear out in the middle, drag it to the bank and up a blown over tree about15 feet and eat it. almost more fun than fishing!

Pretty interesting yogi!

They were probably river otters though. I saw one at the big hole on steamboat once. The summer runs would shy away from it but they seemed to coexist for the most part in that hole.

If they were river otters they were big, when I first saw them I thought they were harbor seals. I'm guessing they were 36 to 42 inches long they went to the bank and played arond for a while they headed back down river. I thought I was video taping them but only video taped the inside of my pocket.
