One and Done

Decided to get back out there after taking over a week off since its been slow. Got out there around sunrise and action was still slow. Tried drift fishing for a while with nothing to show but 2 nice and strong native cutties (both released unharmed ) decided to try a diff spot, I had a little virgin spoon so I decided it was time to POP the cherry ha ha. 5th cast in and it was fish on. Landed a nice little 27in dink. From what I could see, was the first fish of the day. Since the action has been slow, I decided to leave after that and beat the heat! not a bad way to start the day.

Thanks for the heads up. Think I fixed it (hopefully)

That was a nice fish Brandon! As soon as you left, about 15 mins later the sun peaked over the hill.... and yeah it got hot!! I couldn't stop my self from falling, and i was just having an off balance day out there so i called it not too long after you left before i had a bad fall... just had that feeling ya know??

That was one pissed off fish when it hit the rocks! haha. I had one sore head chase and hit a brass cleo in the very 1rst tailout on the side i was fishing. When we were talking across the river i could only pick out a few words of what u were sayin lol. Didn't see any other fish get caught, and everyone started coming out when i left so im not complain of leavin early

great job Brandon but you coulda smiled a little in the pic.lol

thanks! Yeah, this was only the second time/steelhead that I've ever caught using spoons. I never used to use hardware that much, just here and there. I just really started using them a lot this year and spinners have produced a lot of my fish for me this year. It's great when they wack them, but I also love when it just feels like you snag up or catch up on something during the retrieve, then you feel it start pulling back! Spinners are definitely a fun way to catch steelhead! Another tactic under the belt always helps :)

Way to go Brandon

Nice work! I'm jealous...

I had a tough stretch during the last couple weeks not being able to get out. But, I was finally able to hit it hard yesterday. Found a new (to me anyway), great, long stretch of water with all kinds of steelhead-likable lies, where I'm positive there are fish around and had it all to myself for hours and hours! Yet, a bunch of bank pounding, bunch of casting and all I got to show for it was two dink rainbows and not a bit of steelhead action...<sigh>.

Glad you got it on a spoon, 'cause like you said, sure is a fun way to catch 'em! :)

Thanks p2f and chez!

Nice work!

Yeah, it's not quite the mean-muggin but more of the apathetic-smirk. ;)
