Have only gotten out once in the last few weeks...psyching myself up to put the hammer on 'em tomorrow though! Let's put some good vibes together and get ready to throw down the steel fury! Rah, rah :)

Go get 'em:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Good luck!!!! hope your slaying them out there today!

Well, turned out not to be my day.

My first plan of attack was thwarted when I got there and found a new fence and No Trespassing signs for construction. I couldn't cross the river where I needed for access, but no worries...I could just hike up the side I was already on. When I got far enough, I made my way down to the river and it was much louder than I expected. When I got within sight of the dam, I see why; the spill gates were open, the river about 4-6 feet higher than a week ago, and it was a raging torrent of water. The holes were ruined for fishing today!

So, make my way back to the car and decide to head over to the Sandy. 30 minutes later, when I get there, get out of the car, go to grab my rod...what the? Crap! I had leaned it against the back of the car and drove straight off. Get back in and hightail it back, hoping it's still there. Another 30 minutes and as I drive up, it's in sight. Phew!

Spot another guy popping his trunk nearby and I walk over to tell him the water situation. He remarks back, "Don't they know it's Father's Day?" LOL. I told him that I thought the exact same thing when I saw what was happening at the dam. I have kids, couldn't they cut me a break today?

Anyway, rod safe and secure in my grip, I get back in the car and head back. Of course it's late now...hike down 20 minutes and spot 2 guys, three fish on the bank and 2 are bright! Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the Sandy and am checking out a pretty popular area, so there are about a dozen people around. I head up where the pressure is lighter, but after a few hours, I had nothing to show. I'm thinking with the pressure, it would have paid to get there earlier.

But, today I promised my kids I'd be back at noon, so I packed up and chalked up this one as a fiasco. Given my luck today, I suppose I'm lucky I made it back home alive and with all my limbs intact. ;) The bright side is even with the lure-grabbing nature of the Sandy, I lost no tackle...came close a couple times when I launched a stiff hookset into what turned out to be hefty rocks, but got 'em all back.

Bummer day...gonna have to reschedule when my planets, chakras, auras...what have you, are better aligned :)

Sorry about all the mishaps. But, at least you got your rod back, lost no tackle, learned about the changes in your honey holes, and made it home safe! Happy father's day. Next time will be best ever! Mark my words.
