I'm gunnin' to win your contest! :)

Four trips, over the last four weekends = four summers

Didn't have a lot of time today, but thought I'd give it a go for a few hours. Started casting at 7:30 a.m. and by 8:20 or so, hooked into a pretty decent summer fish...the magic of spoons :) I could feel a bit of heft in the first few tugs and when it took a couple leaps, I saw it was fairly thick for a summer. After some good runs, and a bit of chasing down river, landed this...just shy of 29" and 8.1 lbs.:

Always encouraging, when you get it close, to see the hook in the scissors...especially when you grab for the tail and it shoots through your fingers, LOL. I knew it wasn't going anywhere with that hook job though, and next attempt got it beached.

Searched around for fish #2 for awhile, but had to bail at 10:30.

And waco, if you're around...I didn't have much time today, but if I can get away for longer next weekend, I'll send you a note.

Nice leadhead chez! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE chrome, but I also love it when they start getting their colors like that! So beautiful! You're giving us all a run for our money! Getting that spoon fishing dialed in and slaying! I'm starting to like throwing hardware myself! Another competitor for you!? Ha ha jk. Nice job!

Funny thing I'll add...

Back when I caught that first of the four consecutive summers, I was thinking that I was going to stop wearing my usual hat because I'd caught all my fish while wearing it and I didn't want to fall into a superstition trap that it was the 'lucky' steelhead hat. I put it aside and opted for a hat my wife had gotten for me when she took a trip to Cabo with her dad and sister, earlier this year.

First time out wearing that hat, I shook OFF my August skunk I had going, then each time out now, while wearing that hat, I've picked up a fish every time. Now, it IS the lucky hat, LOL. So much for not falling into a superstition,eh? Hehehehehe :)

That's too funny cause I've totally had a lucky hat a couple years ago too! Ha ha ! So I totally know where you're coming from

Damn!!! Your kill'n it! Way to go!

Very nice steel!!! Great job.

Hey Chez... That is a nice lookin fish you picked up there! I have been lurking around quite a bit the last week or 2 with makin a few short comments here and there. I saw this about an hour after you posted it. And you were right about me bein out puttin my time in to catch up to you.

Fished really hard the last 4-6 days with nothing to show but a few trout and 1 skunking. Although there is plenty of late runs and apparently... old crusty springers where i am fishing i have not been able to entice one to bite lately. Your killin me... but i aint gunna give up yet, im gunna keep at this contest while trying to get my goal, a steelhead this month, next month and the month after. then i have caught one 7 months in a row, thats my main focus right now but ya never know whats gunna happen with these Knd's i just got :)

here is my report from today on the drift boat. I had a good chance of landing one today but.....

First fish i hooked today was about a 27-30 inch Steelhead on a #3 blue Knd Sprocket spinner. After about 30 seconds of watching it thrash around next to the boat it threw my lure back at me. Was a nice fish, the tug felt good and it felt even better to hook it on a new lure.

I think i was just enjoying watching the fish more then worrying about my hook set. Then our contest came to my mind after i watched it swim away... pissed me off haha!
