What do you guys recommend? What are the advantages of them compared to others?

Might help if we knew what kinda price range you where thinkin

Under $200

how big...200 or 300 model? Im playing with the new Daiwa Lexa 300 rite now. its comparable to the shimano curado 300...but cheaper at $199. performance wise its the same as the curado, but got more drags if ya hook the big one. jus my thought, good luck

well can I use one of those for both? I'm really curios about both kinds. The lexa is interesting. And whats a citica like?

Abu Garcia Revo STX. Best reel for $200 in my opinion. I have two of them and they are awesome. I have never had any issues with them, and i've landed some pretty nice salmon on them, but they are my reels I specifically use for steelhead fishing.

I'll give another vote for the STX. I got my Citica first and loved it, still do, but the revo is in a whole other class in my mind. Smoooth like butta.

Well I ended up with the Daiwa Lexa, So far it seems pretty awesome. Not that I didn't want a revo or won't get one in the future. But I get to go tomorrow and test it out so hopefully all goes well! Thanks everyone!
