A friend of mine got a Lamprey in the Mack yesterday. Anyone else seen any?

What do you mean got? They're in practically all of our river systems.

they are sea run critters. And yes they are in all of our rivers.

Pacific lamprey are anadromous, but Western brook lamprey are a resident species.

I caught one in the canal off camp creek road 20 years ago steelhead fishing and got one probally 4 years ago out of hatchery hole.

i see them all over the river out of the boat. never hooked on though. my dad used to dive for them in the canal when he was a kid and sell them to vietnamese people.

Damn, never heard of them until now and just did an image search. Nasty looking SOB's.

Have you ever caught one? Or seen one?

I see ammocetes (lamprey larval stage) all the time, adults occasionally. Watched an osprey chow down on an adult pacific lamprey a couple weeks ago.

I grew up out at dexter and I used to see then in Lost Creek all the time. Towards the end of the summer, I would sometimes see them 2 feet long. They are nasty looking and are scary as hell when your snorkeling. For a while I was catching them and selling them to a guy that used them to fish for stripers. I had one of them turn around and suck onto the back of my hand and that was the last time I caught them!:naughty:

They make good pets ......:lol::lol::lol::lol:

:cool:
