Left work a bit early today...within 20 minutes on the river, caught this bad boy native



But, spent another 90 minutes and wonder why I didn't catch 3 more?

Heck ya man, natives are so fun to catch. You can usually tell its a native as soon as your reel starts smoking from all the line they take out.
Taking hatchery fish home is overrated!

Oh yeah...got a little worried when I thought I had him tired out, worked toward shore, then missed the tail grab. Fish freaked the heck out and made another mad dash after that! Fortunately, I employed a little trick someone mentioned here about lightening the drag a touch when the fish is close, so the sudden frenzy didn't snap my leader like that li'l incident a few weeks ago

Got him worked back and made sure to connect with the tail the 2nd time around!

kevin, you nailed it..drag smokin beauties! nothing matter with bonking a hacthery fish,thats what they are there for!! did that fish take off as soon as he saw you? they always seem to do that,once they see a person they freak out and rip some line off the spool.
