I know fisherman don't like to tell their secrets spot and I'm not asking for that but I'm a father of 3 girls who love to fish. Just moving to Portland OR (Happy Valley to be sepcific) can anyone point me in a general direction where I can bank fish some small river/streams/creek that'll be safe and easily accessible with the kiddos. Thanks in advance, any help appreciated.

I am not from that side but I know that they stock Mt Hood CC pond in Gresham with trout. If you are up for a drive St Louis ponds down along I5 get stocked quite a bit and I have seen recent videos of fishing catching trout there.

You can check here for stocking reports: https://myodfw.com/fishing/species/trout/stocking-schedule

Some of the best local trout fishing for kids is just across the border in southern Washington. Their trout stocking schedule is very generous all year long, and there are some really kid friendly spots like Klineline Pond that are both easy to get to and easy to fish from the bank once you’re there! Check out the WDFW stocking schedule for more info and specific spots.

Personally, I find most of the urban adjacent stocked lakes in Oregon to be a mixed bag at best. You’ll run into some folks I’d rather not encounter with kids in tow. Once the alpine lakes ice off, you can find some lovely bank fishing at places like Trillium and Frog lakes on Mount hood. Slightly further, but worth the miles.

Hello Newbies to Oregon! I recently had a wonderful experience fishing with my nephew at Canby Pond. For those 17 and under! Its set in a pleasant park😁 Just off 99E in Canby. It saved my butt after being iced out of Mirror lake up on Mt Hood. Check the stocking schedule to be sure. Pretty family friendly😇
May you have a Nice Family experience😉
