Jig fishing for kokanee?

Hi Everyone,

I'm setting my sites on some Kokanee up at Green Peter this weekend. I'm thinking trolling or jigging. I've seen a couple of good posts on trolling, but not much on jigging? Any advice on how to rig up for jigging?

I hope to do the same but not quite yet. Never fished GP but have read that people jig from the boom near the dam and shallower early in the season. That's all I know. I used buzz bombs at Billy Chinook once in the 90's and did OK considering I didn't know what I was doing. Let us know how your trip goes.

Tie on a swivel. Tie on a gibbs. Cast. Jig retrieve. Repeat. Of they're on the bottom just drop it to the bottom and slowly rip and reel back up. Pretty easy fishing. I've only fished for them on purpose at Odell but Kokanee are Kokanee. Pink and white has always been my Gibbs of choice

There is a big bass tournament there the next few weekends ......ABA North and South Divisons Apr 7 & 14th .........Green Peter Open 28th.

Report:

Got up to the lake around 2:30 yesterday. It was beautiful, but the Kokanee we're not biting. We got one real nice rainbow with a white rooster tail. The water level was at the toe of the first ramp at Thistle creek.
