Decided to go ruff it out in Newport today where it was clear skies and a balmy 65+ degrees.

Dropped in a couple crab pots OFF the pier by Rouge and then hit the jetty for an hour.

Landed a Ling about 6 in to short. It was bright blue with red spots and looked very cool. No pic just a plop back in the drink before I slipped and died.

Caught it on a drop shot style setup with a 2" piece of solid core pencil lead hanging straight down so it wouldnt snag and two 5/0 hoooks w sand shrimp.

Checked the pots but no crab.

We strolled the beach and found HANDFULLS of aggots. Including two larger than golf balls!

My wife got some great photos Ill add here soon.

sounds like an excellent day, but what about 'then hit the pub for an hour'? ;)

central coast ("Oregon Riviera") has been beautiful all week...cheers, roger

Nice Pics and report, looks like a great day!

The pics are killing me! Then I torture myself more by looking at all the Coast Guard cams and can't find the time to make it out! Ugh! Maybe this weekend.
