Is there anything better?

I took an old friend out today that I'd never fished with before. Come to find out after we started fishing he has never caught a steelhead. Now I felt like the pressure was really on. The reason I took him fishing in the first place was because he gave me a load of tuna earlier in the week and I told him I wanted to take him fishing to pay him back. So now that I find out he's never caught a steelhead it's now my mission to get him his first.

We only got one today but it was a good one and there's one less steelhead virgin in the world after this mornings float. That feels good.

Good stuff! didn't let the pressure get to ya! :D

Nice!

I had the same mission last Saturday with my two brothers, so I needed two steelies. We got two bites, but only one bonked.

Nicely done Mr. Ace!

BTW, thought you'd gotten lost. Good to see ya post up.

Good job. That's a true friend.

It's a sweet feeling to be able to get a friend into their first fish! Great job!

Just like troutdude said above... it's nice too see ya post up again. Been missin your reports. Just a slow year for you? or a busy year away from the water?? Good job on getting him into his first, that is always a tuff one to do.

Busy summer....like all of them. We've caught some fish but not a lot. With the exception of my Wyoming trip where we got more than I can count. I've been more of a lurker out here the last couple months.

Don't get much better than that!!!

Broke in a steelhead virgin this season....he now has 10 or 12 punches...caught his first springers ever....and is now severly addicted to flyfishing!!!

Pay it forward.... Good on you!

Chuck

Nice job man. Your first steelhead is something you just don't forget. Mine was 31" & 17lbs...I remember it like it was yesterday

I was thinking the same thing, I got one earlier this year that was 34 and thick and only weighed 12 and a half.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but was thinkin the same thing. Lol. But 31 inches is still a very nice fish.

Pic of the fish. The only fish that was more satisfying was a springer my 10 year old caught a few weeks ago back bouncing about 5 minutes into his first time ever back bouncing.

This one went 29" and 16 lbs. LOL (no offence flocaster, just having fun)

It's all good everyone. Yeah, it was a hen that looked like an oversized football! LOL. I wish I had pics of the fish to prove it was true. For what its worth I caught it while living in Alaska & there a wild steely has to be 36 inches to keep, so I let her go to pass on those awesome genetics. 2 days later my dad caught a buck that went 38 inches & 21lbs.

yup must be pretty thick....I have got 1 at 40inch and one 40 1/2 inch both summers and they were both 20lb mark.Useally our 31 inch fish here are 10-11 lbs

Oh I know, I was pretty surprised too. She was so full of eggs that during the unhooking & weighing process, she actually started dropping eggs. I can't blame any of you for being skeptical. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would have doubts too
