Sorry about the small novel BTW. So after dying to hook into into some chrome, I decided to give summer steelhead a break and try for some springer action. Especially after seeing the success of dtikey, I was ready to at least give it a shot. So me and a friend get to the our hole dark and early. First ones on the river, last ones to leave. At 630ish, bobber down, fish on. After a nice fight and a good ariel display, I ink my tag with my first springer of the year (12lb hatchery buck). couple hours of nothing pass and I decide to switch to some drift fishing with my "secret" weapon. Few casts go by, and I feel what's like a little trout tick. So I set the hook and of course, fish on! Could see across the hole the nook rolling and flashing under water. Looked bigger than my first one. Looked like it was probably around a 15 pounder. When I go fishing, I would rather everyone catch, so I hand this one off to my buddy. But oh yeah I forgot to mention, my salmon drift rod wasn't feeling right to me, so I decided earlier on to use my steelhead rod setup instead. So he fights it for a while and gets it pretty close to the bank, then it freaks out and makes one last run, dives down into a rock shelf that's out in front of us and shreds my 10 lb test leader and we watched it swim away. Really wanted us both to come home with fish, but one is still not a bad day for salmon fishing. As far as I know, out of like the 30 bank maggots, we were the only ones that touched fish... Just gotta throw one last shout out to dtikey once again... Wouldn't have known about this place without him. Thanks dude!
